Simultaneous Interpreting Jobs during May-June 2023

Entering mid year, I received and successfully finished several Simultaneous Interpretation jobs.

First, we have the GMS (General Meeting of Shareholder) season during mid year. This is because every company in Indonesia has to conduct the GMS within 6 months after they submitted the final audited financial report.
This year I provided my service to several companies, due to the sensitivity I will not disclose the name. But I can say that one company is a subsidiary company from a big Oil and Gas industry, and one company is a subsidiary company from a big Retail industry.
Actually I was also scheduled for the GMS of Panasonic’s subsidiary company like I did in the previous year, however unfortunately they suddenly changed the schedule and I already had another client on the updated schedule.

Second, we have a Government Bilateral meeting represented by PUPR(Indonesian Public Works and Housing Ministry) and MLIT(Japan Ministry of Land and Infrastructure).

Third, we also have several International Seminar/Summit during this time of the year. I provided the Japanese English Simultaneous Interpretation service for :

– Google Education Leader Series (May 24)
– West Java Investment Summit 2023 (June 13)
– Japan Asean Business and Investment Forum (June 20-21)

The last event which is the Japan Asean Business and Investment Forum was quite special because they contacted me in person and I provided many services such as:

– 2 Simultaneous English Japanese Interpreters (myself included)
– 1 Interpreter for Seminar session from IKN and BKPM (myself)
– 10 Interpreters for round table Business Matching discussion (myself included)
– All the SI booth and SI system (through my local partner)

Courtesy Call from Japan MoD to Indonesia

On July 19th 2022, the Japan Ministry of Defense delegation visited Indonesia and made a courtesy call to meet Indonesian Minister of Defense and Indonesian Army Commander. Not much I can say about the content of the meeting since it involved military secrets. I was instructed by the Japan MoD to come to the hotel in early morning to get the briefing about the meeting agenda. Everything is in manual hard copy and I have to give back all the documents that were shown to me back to them.


*me and one of the military lady act as the MC for ceremony in the National Heroes Tomb Kalibata in the morning before we all go to Indonesia MoD.

I always admire Japanese work attitude. The day before they just visited another country, and then took a flight to Indonesia and stay for 1 night, had a meeting with Indonesian Army Commander and Indonesian Minister of Defense (in both separate place of course) and after that went directly to the Airport to go to another country. Almost no time was wasted.  The business trip was designed for the maximum efficiency.

I’m quite proud that I’m able to contribute to strengthen the military relation between Indonesia and Japan as an Interpreter. This meeting is quite special because from what I heard from their staff is, this is the first time in a decade or so that Japan Mod made an official Courtesy Call visit to Indonesia.
